Ichigo a young martial arts student with the unique capability to see ghosts is visited by Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami. During their meeting they are encountered by a Hallow (evil spirit) and Rukia transfers some of her power to Ichigo, giving him the chance to fight the Hallow on even ground.
